SunTrust broadens exposure with deposit product

SunTrust Bank has launched a certificate of deposit (CD) for US investors which offers exposure to a World Basket of US, Japanese and European equity indexes. The five-year CDs pay a minimum fixed return of 3% at maturity, plus 100% of initial investor capital.

The CD links to three stock indexes: the S&P 500, the Nikkei 225, and the DJ Eurostoxx 50. Investors will receive the 3% minimum return at maturity regardless of the level of the indexes. If the basket's performance is positive, then investors will participate in its growth up to a cap of between 40-50%, with the exact level to be determined at strike. The 3% minimum return will not be paid if performance has gone above this level.
