German majority adopt BIA

-- The majority of Germany’s 2,500 banks will adopt the basic indicator approach (BIA) under the nation’s Basel II framework, according to a new survey from financial services regulator BaFin. However, most of these banks are small -- the nation’s larger and more sophisticated institutions will be adopting the standardised (STA) and advanced measurement approaches (AMA), according to Helmut Bauer, head of banking supervision at the regulator.
