Upbeat Basel regulators will issue QIS3 guide next week

The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, the architect of Basel II and the body that in effect regulates international banking, confirmed the survey – the third Basel II quantitative impact survey or QIS 3 – would be launched on October 1.

The Basel regulators plan to finalise the Accord in the second quarter of next year, allowing three years before Basel II comes into effect at the end of 2006.

The committee, in a statement made during its current quarterly meeting in Basel, Switzerland
