The idea of writing a book on this topic was first suggested to me by Infopro Digital several years ago, having run the blog at www.energytradingregulation.com for many years. Writing this book, which presents the key financial-style regulations that apply to the energy and commodities markets in Europe, has been a challenge given the constantly changing rules and the need to “go to market” at some stage.

Writing this book has only been possible due to the support of many. In particular, I would like to thank Iain McGowan, who has not only provided encouragement throughout its writing, but also proofread the book in its entirety. It is also important to thank those at Infopro Digital who have shown extraordinary patience with the many missed deadlines experienced over the last couple of years.
