Green stocks will rise 8%, while energy shares slide – BlackRock quants

Discount rates for heaviest polluters will worsen by 50 basis points by end 2025, research suggests

Investors are so keen to buy stocks tied to the transition to a low-carbon economy that they will bid up share prices by as much as 8% over the next four years, according to research compiled by BlackRock’s quants.

Distaste for energy and utilities firms will cause share prices in those sectors to be 10% lower by the end of 2025 than they would be in a world without climate change, the estimates
