By the time Asia Risk magazine was launched in 1995, technology to support derivatives trading was well established, while the first systems to support the emerging notion of enterprise-wide risk management had appeared.

At that time, the trading systems reflected the siloed nature of the business and were specialised by function and asset class. Risk management technology focused on meeting the new requirement for independent risk oversight and functioned as an overnight retrospective analysis
