Katrina BCP activity in high gear

NEW ORLEANS – Business continuity experts are already beginning to discuss how firms could have been prepared for Hurricane Katrina, although some are coming to the conclusion that it would be difficult to have a business continuity plan in place that could withstand such destruction.

The area that is most affected by the hurricane is the city of New Orleans, Louisiana, where levees broke and flooded the city with up to 20 feet of water. However the federal disaster area officially covers 90,000 square miles of affected US southern coastline and surrounding land.
