To begin with, the Federal Financial Institutions Examinations Council (FFIEC) announced the formation of an inter-agency working group to enhance the agencies' co-ordination of supervisory responses to the industry in the aftermath of the devastating storm that struck several southern US states and destroyed New Orleans in September. The working group is composed of senior-level supervision officials from member agencies and the FFIEC's State Liaison Committee.
