Morgan Stanley Acquires Stake In Algorithmics

Morgan Stanley has taken a minority stake in Toronto-based risk management system vendor Algorithmics. The securities house's decision to invest in the software company was driven by its growing commitment to using Algorithmics' systems to support its own risk operations, say sources.

Officials at Morgan Stanley decline to comment about the Algorithmics investment, as does Ron Dembo, the software company's founder.

But other sources close to the two organisations confirm that Morgan has indeed
