Basel Committee member points to flaws in the standardised approaches to operational risk measurement

Banks' frameworks under the standardised approaches to operational risk measurement are generally under-calibrated, OpRisk North America in New York heard yesterday. In a review of the standardised approaches, initial results found that large banks were not calibrated effectively, which is of serious concern, said Mitsutoshi Adachi, chair of the working group on operational risk at the Basel
