Delayed Fatca regulations look set to ignore 'passthru' payments

Delayed US Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (Fatca) draft regulations are going to lead to more uncertainty, according to industry experts. The proposed regulations, which were due for release at the end of December 2011, are not expected to cover one of the most contentious issues of Fatca – so-called 'passthru' payments.

"We pretty much know that passthru payments, which are a significant issue, will not be dealt with by the upcoming regulations," says Julian Skingley, tax partner and Fatca
