Central counterparties (CCPs) have welcomed today's launch of counterparty interoperability as a useful step forward for the cash equities market. "It's not ideal, but it's an excellent start," says Urs Wieland, chief executive officer of Six x-clear, the clearing arm of Six Securities Services.

Diana Chan, chief executive of EuroCCP, agrees. "It's not perfect, because the incumbent still has a tremendous advantage as it is the default CCP," she says. "But it is a good start."
