Some banks in the UK are questioning their dedication to the Basel II advanced measurement approach (AMA) and banks in the US are still picking up the pieces from the financial crisis, but Canadian banks are still pushing ahead. Bank of Montreal (BMO) is steadily moving forward on its journey towards AMA certification, although it recently abandoned its 2012 accreditation target.

In the capital markets arm of BMO, one man heavily involved in the effort is the director of operational risk
