Ex-Société Générale trader charged with code theft

NEW YORK – US authorities have arrested a former Société Générale (SG) trader and charged him with stealing the proprietary trading code used by the French bank for high-frequency trading. Samarth Agrawal is accused of stealing trade secrets by copying sections of the code into Microsoft Word documents in June 2009. He resigned from the bank in November and was prohibited from working at a rival company until March 2010.
