AIG records $9 billion Q4 loss

NEW YORK – Bailed out US insurance firm AIG lost $8.9 billion in the fourth quarter, 2009. Up to $2.3 million of the loss was due to a strengthening of the firm’s general insurance reserves. AIG lost $61.7 billion for the same period in 2008. For 2009 as a whole AIG posted a net loss of $10.9 billion – down from $99.3 billion lost in 2008.
