Basel Committee targets boards in governance consultation

The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision has launched a consultation on revised principles to enhance corporate governance at banks as part of its effort to bring guidance up to date in the wake of the financial crisis. The consultation, which ends on June 15, takes aim at the responsibilities of boards and senior managers.

While past guidance, first issued in 1999 and revised in 2006, remains relevant, the crisis brought to light many corporate governance failures and lapses the Committee
