Madoff’s brother target of US probe; UK drops fraud charges


NEW YORK – Peter Madoff, brother of incarcerated fraudster Bernard Madoff, is the target of a US criminal investigation by the US Attorney’s Office in New York. His lawyer, Charles Spada, has disclosed he is “a subject” of the investigation, but has not yet been charged. The probe was revealed through court papers for a separate Newark, New Jersey-filed civil case. The civil lawsuit was brought over losses suffered by the charitable foundation of senator Frank Lautenberg.
