Bernanke suffers ID theft

WASHINGTON, DC - Chairman of the US Federal Reserve Ben Bernanke is the latest high-profile person to become the victim of identity theft.

A bag belonging to Bernanke's wife containing her credit cards, social security card and chequebook was stolen from a coffee shop. This led to the Fed boss having his personal bank account targeted to an unspecified amount by an elaborate fraudulent scheme.

The incident forms part of larger criminal investigation into an estimated $2.1 million organised crim
