EC mandarins committed to more legislation on corporate governance

Plans afoot for European SOX BRUSSELS – European Commission (EC) officials are attempting to force a European version of the US's Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) law back on the agenda by holding a hearing in Brussels in early May.

The hearing follows on from a consultation that closed at the end of March. Modernising company law and enhancing corporate governance in the EU invited respondents to address 14 questions on how the Financial Services Action Plan (FSAP) should move forward in the corporate governance arena.
