EU and US slam Japan Post expansion

The European Union (EU) and US have criticised draft measures for expanding Japan Post, the Japanese state-owned postal service, bank and insurance company, and accused the government of regulating the firm more leniently than its privately owned peers.

John Clarke, the EU chargé d’Affaires, and Michael Punke, the US ambassador to the World Trade Organisation (WTO), told a Japanese delegation in Geneva they were disappointed with the draft postal reform legislation submitted to the Japanese
