Mifid close to the end game

BRUSSELS – The Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (Mifid) barrelled towards the finish line in June, with both the European Parliament and the European Securities Committee approving the level two implementation measures. The European Commission is expected to sign off on this part of the directive in September.

The European Commission has also set up the European Securities Market Expert Group, which will focus on, among other things, Mifid implementation. New members of the group include Andrew Proctor, head of compliance for the UK and Western Europe at Deutsche Bank; Baker & McKenzie partner María Gracia Rubio de Casas; Clifford Chance partner Chris Bates; Linklaters partner Sebastián Albella Amigo and Travers partner Margaret Chamberlain.
