CEIOPS and Commission clash over groups

Two of the key architects of the Solvency II directive, the Committee of European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Supervisors (CEIOPS) and the European Commission, have clashed over the politically contentious issue of groups. Although the dispute amounts to a breakdown in the protocols of the Lamfalussy process, the EU Parliament's rapporteur, Peter Skinner, has moved to alleviate the tensions with his own amendments to the directive.
