The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is very close to finalising its long-awaited definition of a swap, says CFTC general counsel Dan Berkovitz

The next major step in the Commodity Futures Trading Commission's (CFTC) Dodd-Frank rule-making process is likely to be the so-called 'product definitions', including the definition of a swap, CFTC general counsel Dan Berkovitz signalled during a speech on Tuesday.

"A top priority is the swap definition. We hope to do that very, very shortly," he said at the Energy Risk USA conference, taking place this week in Houston, Texas.
