Hedge fund indexes unfit for retail market, says EC

Undertakings for collective investments in transferable securities (Ucits) investments based on hedge fund indexes are still not permissible. Indeed, concerns regarding the structure and performance of hedge fund indexes still need to be resolved, according to a report released on July 4 by the European Commission.

The report was commissioned last year by the EC and drafted by a group of experts, know as the Expert Group on Alternative Investment Funds. The body was set up at the recommendation
