Canada's La Pan heads Basle advisory group

BASLE, SWITZERLAND -- Nicholas Le Pan, superintendent of financial institutions in Canada, will lead a group that will help banking supervisors share information and approaches related to the coming into effect of the Basle II bank capital adequacy accord.

The Basle Committee on Banking Supervision, which -- as architect of Basle II -- is setting up the group, said the move reflected the committee's view that strong support for the efforts of supervisors would be essential for a successful accord
