Equitable Compromise Proposal Planned For Mid-September

LONDON -- Troubled UK mutual life assurer Equitable Life is planning a mid-September publication date for its compromise proposal for resolving the financial crisis caused by its falling foul of operational hazards in the form of legal and strategic risks.

Equitable officials said in mid-August the shape the compromise plan takes could be affected by a report the firm has commissioned from lawyer Nicholas Warren. This report, which is also expected in mid-September, is intended to look at
