Lehman snares investment banking chief

US investment bank Lehman Brothers has hired Jérôme Calvet as managing director and co-head of investment banking in France.

Calvet previously spent six years at Société Générale as head of mergers and acquisitions. Before that, he spent 15 years at the French finance ministry.

He starts at Lehman next week and will be based in Paris. He will report to Benoit d’Angelin, and work closely with Guillaume d’Hauteville, also co-head of investment banking in France.

“We have established a strong investment banking franchise across Europe and central to our growth strategy is the further development of an even broader franchise in France,” said d’Angelin.
