HSBC goes global on agriculture

HSBC Global Banking and Markets has launched the HSBC Optimised Global Agriculture index, which is designed to provide exposure to companies involved in businesses related to the cultivation of crops and plants. The index will be used as a basis for index-linked investment such as structured products.

The index focuses on companies which increase the production of crops and plants through yield enhancement as well as crop protection, through the use of agriculture chemicals, fertilisers and breeding of seeds. The index comprises 30 constituents with a geographic exposure spanning 16 countries.
