Make UK the winner of Mifid race, say regulators

EU praises UK Mifid approach LONDON – The UK's approach to the implementation of the Markets in Financial Instruments directive was praised by an EU official at a mid-May Financial Services Authority conference in London.

"This is how it should be, and it is an example for other member states," said Nathalie De Basaldua, head of the securities markets unit at the European Commission. Other countries, such as Germany, the Netherlands, France and Sweden, have published timetables for implementation but the UK was acknowledged as the furthest ahead in its implementation programme.
