Verizon downgrade review puzzles investors

Encouraging financial results from the telco are not enough to forestall S&P action

Standard & Poor’s has provoked surprise among some credit analysts by placing the A+ long-term credit rating for telecom company Verizon Communications and its affiliates on review for downgrade, despite some relatively positive financial performance over the past three quarters.
