Counterparty Radar: Market for mutual funds and ETFs grew to $677 trillion in Q4 2022
Putnam Investment Management boosted the notional size of its interest rate swaps book by 70% in the fourth quarter of 2022 to roughly $43 billion, as mutual funds and exchange-traded funds piled into the instrument.
The overall swaps market grew 4% to $677 trillion in Q4, the busiest quarter for the space since Q1 of last year, according to data compiled from filings made to the US Securities and Exchange Commission. Pay-fixed, receive-floating trades accounted for 48% of the total volume in
