SGX could expand clearing to Australia post ASX merger

Singapore Exchange (SGX) could expand its clearing service for over-the-counter financial derivatives to Australia once a decision has been made on its bid to merge with the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX).

SGX formally applied to the Australian Foreign Investment Review Board last Friday (March 11), having entered into a merger implementation agreement on October 25. The merger proposal will now be reviewed before being passed to the Australian parliament – which is expected to take about
