Australia to list environmental contracts
The Australian Securities Exchange plans to list futures and options contracts on renewable energy certificates from November 24, and certified emission reduction from the first quarter of 2010.
The exchange also proposes to list futures and options on Australian emission units, if proposed Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme legislation is passed.
Contracts will be cleared at the SFE Clearing Corporation, ASX’s futures central counterparty clearing subsidiary. RM
