Industry fears European bias of IAIS solvency standards


Life insurance companies in the United States have voiced complaints about recent moves towards a set of international solvency standards, saying that they don't fully take account of the discretionary nature of US-style life products.

The Swiss-based International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) issued its latest structure paper on 14 February. The paper seeks to develop what it describes as a "coherent and systematic" analysis of the main elements of the regulatory financial
