Euronext derivatives contracts up 14%

Euronext.liffe, the international derivatives business of Euronext, traded 396.9 million futures and options contracts in the first eight months of the year, up 3% on the same period in 2004, while derivatives contract volumes were up 14% year-on-year during the month of August. These figures are promising considering Euronext.liffe cut the volume of contracts traded on its exchange when it introduced more harmonised equity derivatives contracts on May 9.
