Wealth management mergers afoot

Speculation is rife that that more European private banking and wealth management mergers could be in the offing following Deutsche’s acquisition of asset manager Wilhelm von Finck and UBS’s plans to buy Italian financial intermediary firm Etra.

At the end of December 2004, Deutsche announced its acquisition of Wilhelm von Finck as part of its drive to expand its private wealth management franchise in Germany. Wilhelm von Finck manages more than 21 billion in client assets. The company covers
