DGCX plastics contracts launch postponed

The launch of two new plastics futures contracts at the Dubai Gold & Commodities Exchange (DGCX) has been delayed.

The Polypropylene (PP) and Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) futures contracts for the Middle East and South East Asian markets were set to begin trading on the 5 February 2009.

When the contracts were originally announced in December last year, DGCX's chief executive officer, Malcolm Wall Morris, cited price turbulence in the plastics market as the main driver for spurring demand for the contracts.

According to a statement from the DGCX, the decision to delay the launch of the contracts is
