NYSE plans new telecoms technology

NEW YORK -- The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) is planning another layer of telecom connections between the NYSE and the American Stock Exchange (Amex), their data centres and their member firms, to increase security and protect data.

This is in response to the telecom hiccups that followed the September 11 attacks on New York’s financial district. Many companies discovered their multiple telecom providers were running lines through the same hubs that, when knocked out of service, left member
