Senate urged to overhaul CFTC

A trio of Chicago derivatives exchanges last month urged the US Congress to clarify and amend the powers of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT), the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) and OneChicago – a joint venture electronic exchange between the CBOT, the CME and the Chicago Board Options Exchange – highlighted single-stock futures as a particular problem that should be addressed within the CFTC’s reauthorisation process.
