d-cyphaTrade to launch electricity options on SFE

Sydney-based d-cyphaTrade plans to list electricity options on the Sydney Futures Exchange (SFE), with a first phase launch scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year.

The options, including swaptions, caps and Asian options, will be on the d-cypha SFE Australian electricity futures contracts, launched on the exchange last September.

“The Australian energy derivatives markets have developed significantly in the past year in a number of respects. Exchange-traded options will further enhance that development process by alleviating many of the credit issues currently prevalent in the over-the-counter options market,” said Catherine Sutin, business development manager at d-cyphaTrade.

d-cyphaTrade was established in 2002 by Wellington, New Zealand-based specialist data and information management company d-cypha, specifically to work on the electricity futures market in Australia.
