Renewed optimism and a desire to push the boundaries has been evident in the pitches for this year's Structured Products Europe awards. In last year's submissions, structurers used the word "innovation" tentatively - perhaps in fear of rousing the regulator and having their investments mistaken for complex products - but in 2013 the breadth of ideas has been astonishing.
The overall house of the year award goes to BNP Paribas, which stood out from its competitors through its ability to innovate
