Hedge funds are acquiring an increasingly high profile as alternatives to the traditional mix of equities, bonds and cash, particularly in the face of persistent bear markets. This inevitably raises the question of what rules apply to the offering or marketing of hedge funds across the important European market.


The short answer is that restrictions are generally onerous although with proper local advice and due care it is possible to offer hedge funds in most member states of the European Union
