Leveraged products see steep declines in Europe

Structured products and exchange-traded products that use leverage see outflows in Europe

Leveraged structured products and exchange-traded products (ETPs) have suffered big declines in Europe.

In Switzerland, leveraged structured products declined 40% between September 2011 and September of this year, according to Eric Blattman, head of public distribution financial products at Bank Vontobel in Zurich. Market conditions are to blame for the drop, says Blattman.
