OCC: equity derivatives to get a cross-margin service

If the Group of 20 is to meet the target it set in September 2009, all standardised over-the-counter derivatives must be centrally cleared by the end of this year. That looks impossible, but at least the rates, credit and foreign exchange asset classes can point to tangible progress. Equity derivatives have been left in the starting blocks.

That should change at some point during the first quarter of this year, when the Options Clearing Corporation (OCC) expects to launch the first OTC equities
