Although the size of the structured products market in India is difficult to estimate, total assets under management (AUM) in structured products are estimated at around 213.9 billion rupees ($4 billion), according to a wealth report published in December by Karvy Private Wealth, a Mumbai-based wealth management firm.

With total wealth held by individuals in India estimated at 86.5 trillion rupees in the last financial year (2011), investment in alternative assets has increased significantly
