As someone who has for the past 20 years made a living analysing economic developments in Asia, Jim Walker, founder and managing director of Hong Kong-based independent research outfit Asianomics, is well qualified to separate fact from fiction in the various levels of hype surrounding the region.

Prior to launching Asianomics at the end of 2007, Walker spent 16 years at Crédit Lyonnais Securities Asia. Walker says he was never under any pressure to keep quiet at CLSA when he had a negative view
