Canada pressed to develop inflation market

As inflation expectations creep upwards, dealers and asset managers say the Canadian government should increase its inflation-linked bond issuance programme to further develop the country’s inflation market.

“People are worried about inflation. It’s not one of my fears, personally, but people are worried about it and it’s on their agenda,” observes Simon Lamy, Montreal-based senior vice-president at the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec.
