Electricity certificates offer protection against price fluctuations

Handelsbanken Capital Markets has opened subscription for leveraged electricity certificates, allowing clients to take positions on the price of electricity.

"We have seen extreme trading volumes in the Bull & Bear Electricity certificates," says Peter Frösell, vice-president and head of business development for structured products at Handelsbanken in Stockholm.

The bank traded Skr9.25 billion (€1.03 billion) in electricity certificates last year, giving it a market share of 26%.
