JW Advisors was established earlier this year by Joseph White, one of a growing number of intermediaries leaving investment banks to go independent. Now White is constructing credit diversified portfolios for institutional clients, who are reaping the benefits of independent structured product advice. Sophia Morrell reports

Recent months have seen more and more advisers deserting investment banks to set up shop alone. The trend is a result of several factors, such as lingering uncertainty about job security at wirehouses, uneasiness about when the harsh media glare might turn to large retention bonuses, and concerns about how investment banks might ultimately be regulated.
