Abbey releases capital-guaranteed bonds for wary investors

UK Bank Abbey has launched four new capital-guaranteed bonds designed to cope with the volatile market conditions. The products guarantee return of all capital at their four-year maturity and each tracks different international indexes, including the UK FTSE 100, the US S&P 500, the Chinese Hang Seng index and the Japanese Nikkei 225.

“We have seen continued interest from intermediaries in offering some of the more esoteric global markets such as the Far East, Asia and emerging markets," says Gary Dale, head of intermediary business development at Abbey Financial Markets.

The four products are the latest in a series of releases, designed to fit in different tax wrappers such as ISAs, SSAS pension arrangements and Offshore Bonds. Minimum investment is £3000 with no maximum and investors will have until November 16 2007 to buy
